Buffalo LinkStation Mini - LS-WSXL/R1

Tech Blog - Network Attached Storage drives (or NAS) are just about one of the most important devices these days in anyone’s computing arsenal. NAS solutions provide you with a convenient way of taking backup of your critical data in event of any PC problems, NAS allows you to backup or store data from any computer on the network that the NAS is attached to.

There are many NAS suppliers, but Buffalo has been in the business of making NAS devices for a long time now and it produces some of the best products in the industry. Below is a short review of the Buffalo’s dual drive LinkStation Mini network attached storage.

The Buffalo LinkStation Mini offers two 2.5” hard drives and is the smallest NAS on the market, supporting RAID 0 and RAID 1. This gives users the choice between maximum capacity and performance or maximum redundancy and reliability. This particular model is currently available (as of September 2010) in 3 different sizes, as 250GB, 500GB and as a 1TB external hard drive.

The fanless design ensures silent operation and it also features gigabit Ethernet connectivity for fast and reliable data storage. The Buffalo Linkstation Mini is probably one of the most reliable and smallest available in the market today, so if you’re looking for a convenient way of taking backup of your data or just simply looking for convenient way of storing and sharing data over the network this is probably one of the most viable solutions for you.

What is so amazing about the Buffalo Linkstation Mini is the fact that it will stream videos across a home network to any DLNA-enabled media receiver, like the PS3. This enables you to watch HD movies stored on your NAS in amazing quality on your TV. This was the icing on the cake for me.
