Tech Blog - Microsoft Security Essentials is a free downloadable antivirus and antispyware from Microsoft that was release last year, features of the Microsoft Security Essential are quick scan, full scan, realtime scanning, auto updates, customized action, customized scan, and scheduled scan, I found the Microsoft Security Essentials to be light and fast, what surprises me the most is that it runs quietly in the background as most antivirus should do, there doesn't seems to be any bloat on the software unlike most of the free antivirus out there, it doesn't try to be what it is not, the instalation f the Microsoft Security Essential fast and easy, configuration and customization is easy to understand, there are very good documentation on the Microsoft Security Essentials website if you need support, I my opinion Microsoft Security Essentials is better than most free antivirus out there such as AVG which doesn't actually get rid of your virus unles you pay for it and it bloated which makes your system slow, if Microsoft Security Essentials is installed and partnered with a good firewall like Agnitum Outpost which is also available free, I think you are very well protected, do note however during installation of the Microsoft Security Essentials it does check for Validity of your Windows installation meaning if your running a bootleg/pirated copy of Windows your out of luck you can refer to the images below regarding the validation screen, Microsoft Security Essentials is available for Windows Vista and Windows 7 32/64 bit users, as well as Windows XP 32bit users, You can get it here

AVG free does in fact remove viruses in the free version. To lend credibility to your review, make sure your data is accurate.
If you say so, from my experience it doesn't remove any virus, it just slows down your computer.
Although I've been using Comodo Internet Suite (AV AMW & Firewall) for over a year now, I was interested in knowing more about Security Essentials.
I've installed MSE on others' computers and was very impressed with it. The only drawback is its lack of a firewall, but it seems that if you follow the writer's advice, you'll be fine...
I choose to stay with Comodo because it's all in one and includes sandboxing strategies (although they can get annoying from time to time w/ false alerts and "good program" interruptions).
It is still rather tempting, however, to use MSE since it seems to be a cloud-based signature protocol--thus more rapidly deployed signatures are implied theoretically...
In regards to AVG: I'm not quite sure it matters whether or not the free version removes a virus since the impact on system resources when it's running should be off-putting for anyone seeking an efficient computer. I would recommend either of these options (MSE&other firewall or Comodo IS) over AVG...
