Proxy Hosting Guide and Review

Tech Blog - If you plan on creating your own proxy site this proxy hosting and web hosting guide is for you, on this guide I will talk a lot about what you should look for in a choosing proxy host this is very important as your proxy sites' success depends on them, I currently own small network of proxy sites I have been running my proxy sites for almost 1 year now, this guide is based on my experience running my own proxy sites frankly it would have saved me a lot of trouble if I have encountered a guide of some sort when i was just starting my proxy site, also on this post I have reviewed couple of hosting company that offer proxy hosting, I have been client of both companies and I will review my experienced with them.

Below are 3 of the most important thing to look for, when choosing for Proxy hosting
  • Bandwidth - this is very important you need to make sure that your hosting does NOT oversell bandwidth to make their hosting plan look cheap compared to others, from experience hosting company that oversell bandwidth will suspend and kick you out even if you have paid for the whole year without notifying you, and they don't even reply to your support ticket.
  • Uptime - This is very important as proxy users tend to look for other proxy site if they are not able to access your site, if your site went down for a couple of hours I would say you will lose about 30% of your visitor.
  • Support - You will need a very good support as your site depends on them.

Review of Proxy Hosting I have tried

Hagio Host Review - This is my first proxy host I hosted my proxy site with Hagio Host for about 6 months until my site started to get traffic they suddenly suspended my account without explanation even if I have paid for 1 year, they have also ignored my support ticket asking for explanation and have disabled my access basically locking me out of my own files, if you check their website their proxy hosting plan is cheap compared to other as I believe they oversell bandwidth, the support is horrible it will take about a day to get a reply and big chance that it will be ignored unless your going to send them payment, the uptime is ok at best I would not recommend you to host with Hagio Host avoid it at all cost unless you want to get ripped off! - www.hagiohost.com

MonsterProx - I am currently hosting with MonsterProx they are a bit expensive compared to Hagio Host as they don't oversell bandwidth, the uptime is good however what shines most about MonsterProx is the support based on my experience if you submit a ticket you will get a reply almost within 30 minutes, the support is friendly easy to talk to no hassle, he is knowledgeable and question are answered promptly if your issue is technical regarding uptime you are provided with update on the outage, so far I'm satisfied with MonsterProx service I highly recommend MonsterProx - www.monsterprox.com

TMZ Hosting - One of my friend is currently hosting with them If i didn't decide to go with MonsterProx I would have signed up with TMZ, from what I heard the uptime is also good, they have wider and more flexible package, the support is not bad either and my friend is happy hosting with them check them out as well! - www.tmzhosting.com

Hope this post help!

Note some people will say go with VPS or dedicated server when starting a proxy site, however when your just starting your site go with shared hosting it cheaper, then just switched when you already have a lot of traffic.

Thanks I initially bumped into your post that narrowed down my choices. Actually I am mainly with TMZ and quite happy with it. It seems that monsterhost is 10 time more expensive!

I'll be happy to see your guide to choose VPS, as it is my next destination.

Cheers
