Stuff you need
iTunes - Download and install iTunes if you don't have it
Firmware 2.2.1 - You can get it here or here (the one this site worked for me)
Quickpwn - Get the latest official release of Quickpwn for Mac or Windows here do remember to read Notes about it on the site.
Steps to Jailbreak-
Step 1 - Connect your iPod or Iphone to your computer using the USB cable and fire up iTunes
Step 2 - If you are using a 1st generation iPod Touch and still using 1.1.5 firmware, you will need to upgrade it first, hold your SHIFT key then click restore a windows will pop up, browse to the ipsw file you downloaded and click open, this will take awhile.
Step 3 - Once upgrade is done do not close iTunes and open up Quickpwn and follow the onscreen instruction then your done.
NOTE: By Upgrading firmware and Jailbreaking you will lose your iPod and Iphone content, just resync after doing so to restore your files.
Now if you want to install cracked apps, you will need to modify MobileInstaller and copy the hacked MobileInstaller file to your iPhone or iPod using SCP then SSH into the device and chmod 777 MobileInstaller, as well as other directories will update this part later.

I have read elsewhere that the iPhone Development Team has not yet developed a jailbreak for the iPod Touch for Firmware 2.2.1. What you describe in your blog seems so straightforward that I am rather skeptical (and I say that not trying to be rude).
You have tried this and it worked, or is this the procedure that one would employ to get the upgrade to 2.2 and then jailbreak? There is a jailbreak for 2.2, but according to the iphone-dev team, not one for 2.2
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please respond.

Hi,
Yes this work on my iPod touch which I downloaded a 2.2.1 firmware and upgraded from 1.1.5 firmware, my iPod Touch is currently on firmware 2.2.1, and I used the latest Quickpwn to Jailbroke it, if you have an iPhone its toiatally a different story as I think they have issue with baseband, so you might wnat to read dev-team latest post http://blog.iphone-dev.org/, sorry don't have an iPhone so I can't try it, thanks for reading.
I appreciate the response, and the fact is thatyou might be right. Incidentally, I have an iPod Touch, just upgraded to 2.2.1. I am a newbie to this iPod/iPhone process, and when my Touch upgraded to 2.2.1, my previous installation of Installer and Cydia were erased. That I don't mind, but then I don't know of I will be able to get them re-installed.
Just download the latest Quickpwn official release and run it, with iTunes running, then unlock everything should be back like cydia installer and such.
When you updgrade firmware it will remove everything on your iPod.
